Fire, Wind, Earth, Water
Last night our front living room caught on fire. Our window was damaged, my nonni’s sentimental purple chairs were destroyed. Fire does travel very quickly…we saw what we thought was fog/blowing snow and then realized it was in fact smoke, and lots of it. Cassie heard the file alarm going off, and Phil got up and darted upstairs, Cassie and I followed. When we opened the door, the smoke was pouring out. The front window was completely on fire.
Curtains, blinds a wall of fire. Phil had reacted quickly and ran to the kitchen and grabbed the fire extinguisher and expelled it all over the fire. The fire ceased. I could hardly breathe. Cassie went downstairs and checked Mitchell. I called emergency 911. Fire crews were dispatched.
The firefighters walked through the house ensuring that the fire was indeed out. Thanks, it was appreciated greatly.
We opened all of the windows to let the smoke out. A lot of stuff was melted and burned. Our apartment smelled like a campfire was burning. Black soot covered (and to a certain extent still covers) everything. Clothing – smells bad and has black soot on it. I’ll post some pictures once our lives return to normal. Which I’m thinking will be a little while. They are going to have to replace our floors, and window, and all of the other items damaged in the accident.
