Chatterbox has launched
I’m excited to announce that Chatterbox has launched. This is a beta version, so please excuse the lack of customization. I intend to rebrand the forum in the upcoming weeks.
Chatterbox
So I’ve been doing some research on MySQL and phpmyadmin
My hosting company Blacksun provides some interesting information on their site. The site you are viewing right now has mysql running in the background. It’s quite the little operation. ralphmeiers.ca uses a relational database schema. The challenge I am now facing, is creating a new database for chatterbox. Not being familiar with mysql commands, I am compelled to use phpmyadmin. However, Blacksun has blocked access to the create DB function. I called Blacksun and they will have my new DB created for me by EOD tomorrow.
HURT
Why do you hurt so bad? Yes, You. Are you thinking to yourself Oh my god is he talking to me? Yes. I’m thinking of moving to a new publishing platform. I will most likely be keeping my personal blog, however I will also be creating a forum called “chatterbox”. Do you like the forum name? If so, let me know. Put your name in the box below and tell me something. Introduce yourself to all the others reading these messages and postings.
Now I can somewhat understand if you are shy, my advice for you is to use a pseudoname. Whatever you chose to do…do it for the sake of becoming interactive.
OUT. P . S. What’s this thing I hear about called pride?
Strategic Initiatives
Strategic Initiatives – What are they?
Strategic initiatives are projects which add value to an enterprise through the use of information technology. In order to achieve success, the project team must ensure that the project will create a significant return on investment for the organization’s stakeholders.
How the project should be evaluated:
The acceptable Return on Investment amount (dollar or percentage) should be agreed upon prior to the analysis work being initiated.
Substantial research should be undertaken to determine the specific reaons for the project’s creation. This research should include productive discussions with the project sponsor. The information collected should act as a base from which the project’s scope can be created. Based on the project’s scope, one can then estimate the approximate cost associated with the project’s implementation. The next step includes analyzing the potential value the project will create. The expected benefits associated with the strategic initiative must then be analyzed against the expected or estimated cost. A dollar value must be associated with the tangible and intangible benefits. The dollar value associated with the strategic initiatives intangible benefits should be validated with Subject Matter Experts.
Once the project costs and benefits have been analyzed, the project team along with the Project Sponsor will determine whether the project creates enough stakeholder value to warrant the strategic initiative.
Weekend of FUN
My weekend is going to consist of going to the “Everything to do with Sex” show at Exhibition Place, and “Fear Fest” at Paramount Canada’s Wonderland.
I will be posting pictures and experience after I have attended the events.
Performance Objective
A very cute, politically correct phrase: “Introducing employees to the external workforce”
Dan Brown
Over the weekend I read two Dan Brown books:
Deception Point & Digital Fotress.
It’s been awhile since I’ve endulged myself with a good read. I quite enjoyed Deception Point – any sci fi involving NASA always sparks my interest. I wonder if Ben Bova has any new books out…he use to be one of my favourite authors.
I just downloaded ie 7 BETA 1 version. You can get the beta version by clicking here
You will need a *.rar extractor, I suggest the trial version on WinRar located on one of my favourite free download sitesCNET

Life
Life, what a wonderful thing it is. The eternal drive for answers to unanswerable questions. Appreciate the life you have for it is unique, wondrous and infinite. Cherish those who love and hate you, for only through experience and struggle do we ever progress and grow. Speak your mind, doing so will help you unleash your human potential.
Life is not about living without fear, it’s also not about living in fear!
Living an authentic life is highly unprobable; very few of those of us within our global generation ever experience it. Passion – can someone please define this term for me. The human vulnerability of passion can be both inspiring and overwhelming. We must learn to tread a fine line – to be a conscious and ‘just’ society while also “existing”.
Learning – a lifelong journey of human experience, emotions, memories and time. Can you pin point a time in your life when learning hasn’t ocurred? Could this be attributed to the fact that learning is an eternal force, Learning – has no beginning and no end.
Intrigued? You should be.
Welcome to the Digital Decade. There is no turning back (at least not yet), we can only move forward.
Ciao
